Capital Motor Global Holdings Ltd- Scam or Not?

How to Avoid Being Scammed -Capital Motor Global Holdings Ltd.

If you are searching on the internet to validate the company ‘Capital Motor Global Holdings Ltd’ for delivering a new car to you, as a result of ‘the owner’ offering to have it delivered to you for a 5 day trial IS WARY.

I recently was scammed by an imposter( supposedly based in Germany), who told me the car was in St Austell, to view, but if too far away, they would arrange for a company to deliver it, for a 5 day  free trial. However, they want you to transfer the full amount into a holding account (which it is not), until you agree to keep the car.
I was communicated to by email, and I was given the name, address, telephone no & website of the company who would deliver: Capital Motor Global Holdings Ltd’
These were the details:
Here you have the company details, Capital Motors Global Holdings Limited email: support@hgci-intermediatelimited.co.uk, phone no: 01908886144
Website:
www.hgci-intermediatelimited.co.uk
I checked the website out and it looked professional, and seemed to say that this was what they do. I checked with companies House, and they were registered in 2003. The company seemed legitimate.

But when the time came for the car to be delivered, (convenient for them, a Saturday), it wasn’t.
Subsequent investigation,   suggests that ‘Capital Motor Global Holdings Ltd’ are a genuine company, but a ‘holding’ company, and are unlikely to know that their name and details are being used for a scam.
I have since written to the company at their registered office to warn them.

Needless to say, I have reported this to the police, Auto Trader and my bank, and I hope they pursue and arrest the persons concerned.

I hope this blog also helps to avoid someone getting caught as I was.

Simple Tips:
Speak to the owner
View the car
check the log book accurately
Dont  pay the full amount( DONT PAY ANYTHING IF POSSIBLE)
If you pay a deposit - pay  by credit card( over £100), as you can claim it back.
