Energy Monitors saves Money on Electricity - Owl 130 Energy Monitor

Doesnt paying utility bills like Gas and Electricity get you down!

I have always made it a practise to read the meters, and phone in the details to utility Warehouse my gas & electricity buyer. This ensures that my bills show an accurate record of usage, and reduces any surprises later on.

I have been aware of the monthly cost for both gas and electricity over the last 12 months or so, and felt the need to do something about it.

I reviewed ‘WHICH’, for energy monitors’, & ‘electricity monitors’, to find out if they could work, and which were recommended.

I found that a basic energy monitor like OWL MICRO CM 130 was a good thing to start with, and the price around £22- £25 seemed reasonable. If I spend this, I need to at least recover this cost over the first 6 months.

I did a search online, and found them around £24, but I then used my special online shopping search tool called ‘My Shopping Genie’.

My Shopping Genie finds lowest prices, often better than Amazon & Google.

I located the cheapest price for £22.19 from a company called Energy Monitor World, and made my purchase.

I noted that as well as Owl Energy monitors they had a good selection of other makes such as the Eco-Eye Energy meter, Efergy Energy monitor, Wattson Energy monitor.

I received my energy meter promptly following my order; thankfully, all batteries were supplied, so within a short while, I had it working.

One thing you need to know is your cost per kw/hour for your electricity. This has to be entered into the monitor, to enable the cost to be calculated. You can find this on your last electricity bill.

I decided to test the amount of electricity used in my kitchen as I had 60w ceiling spotlight & six 50w mini spotlights!

I took several readings over short periods, comparing the kW usage, with the lights on or off. I then worked out the average difference.

I found out that by replacing all spotlights, with LED lights my saving of electricity over 12 months would be £150, which amazed me. I costed up the purchase of replacement lamps which (using My Shopping genie), came £32. What a great saving of £118 over 12 months ( and more to come!)and all thanks to a small energy monitor.

I am now going to use it to monitor other appliances.

To celebrate, I decided to make a video, as to how the owl Micro CM119 monitor works to help others see how simple it is.

Dishwasher Repairs in Wakefield & Leeds found on Goole

What do you do when your dishwasher packs up? And I don’t mean the wife! Our dishwasher being nearly 10years old decided to stop working.

What should I do? I decided that I would get a professional, and looked for ‘dishwasher Repairs Wakefield’, on Google.

Not a lot of success so I tried www.yell.com, and found a company in Leeds: A & E Appliances...

Would they come to south of Wakefield? Well, a telephone call was made, and the question asked. Yes, they would. Wonderful!. I took the opportunity to ask if they charged a call out fee- No, that’s a plus! So they would be with me that afternoon.

They arrived as promised, and proceeded to strip the machine. Investigations indicated that it could be the water pump; all other options were used up first. However it ended up requiring the pump to be replaced. Never mind, I never thought that I would be so happy to hear the ‘swish-swish-swish’ of the machine!

Job well done, and only an hours charge plus the reasonable cost of the pump.

So if you are looking for dish washer repairs in Wakefield, or oven repairs Leeds, or Cooker repairs Leeds, call A & E Appliances on 0845 6522 065 or visit their web site: www.westyorkshireappliances.co.uk

Stairlifts Solutions & Benefits in Leeds West Yorkshire

If you were to suggest to someone that from now on they will only be able to use half of their property, they would probably think you were acting a little strange and perhaps a trip to the local doctor would be advisable. Yet people are inflicting that precise situation on themselves all the time; people who have decided that their mobility is affected to such an extent that a regular journey up and down the stairs is no longer feasible. As a result, they take the major step of limiting their world to the ground floor of their house, never to venture upstairs again; an undesirable but necessary measure they feel.
Many believe that this restrictive way of living is the only possible solution to their mobility problem, yet an outcome such as this is, in fact, ill advised and easily avoidable. Just think about it: why on earth would you deliberately choose to have access to only fifty per cent of the most valuable asset you own? After all, you wouldn’t dream of purchasing an expensive car on the understanding that you would only drive within an area covering just a few miles. The installation of a Stairlift, however, means you can look forward to continued freedom of access to all areas of your house, just as you always have done, regardless of your mobility concerns.
What about the cost?
Often people are concerned about the financial outlay required for installing a Stairlift in their home. Of course, the ideal solution for many would be to move into a bungalow, and many older people have indeed planned for this as they get older. In the past, builders strategically built bungalows in coastal areas that were eagerly snapped up by the less mobile. The current financial situation, coupled with the increasing rarity of such properties, has led to such an option being shelved. Having a Stairlift installed in your home does come at a price, but when compared to the expenditure involved, not to mention the upheaval moving entails, the overall cost of a Stairlift falls into insignificance.
Stress free mobility
People often have a number of concerns when considering the addition of a Stairlift to their home. It may be the mess the workmen may leave; perhaps they are just worried about actually using a Stairlift safely. Sometimes people think their particular property is unsuitable for a Stairlift. While all these concerns are reasonable, those who have taken the plunge are generally thrilled with the difference it has made to their lives. Ask anyone who uses a Stairlift in their house and they will often comment on how they wished they had acted sooner.
Installing a Stairlift means you are:
• Not limited to the ground floor of your house
• Able to enjoy 100% of your most valuable asset
• Not forced into moving
• Saved all the stress and expense moving can cause
• Most importantly, you allow yourself freedom of movement
The installation of a Stairlift in your house is quite simply a cost effective and highly rewarding solution.
Bob Snowzell works for the family company Leodis Stairlifts Ltd, who specialise providing expert advice on choosing the best stairlift

Benefits of a Cranial Osteopath. Easing the Stress of Birth for the Baby

One way or another most of us enter the world violently: pushed, dragged, sucked, catapulted or wrenched – and what a shock!
From the cozy nest of the womb into the harsh reality of unfamiliar lights, sounds, smells, air – and cold weighing scales. That’s at best. At worst, it’s scalpels, monitors, and strangers and freaked – out parents.
Main article:

So, apart from the actual physical trauma of birth, most babies arrive somewhat startled: Imagine it…gasp…shallow breathing…fists clench…shoulders rise…heart races…straight into a state of shock.
Often, to one degree or another, that is how we remain.
That’s where the cranial osteopath comes in useful. When he puts his hands onto a baby’s tiny body they release that shock so that the baby, often for the first time, will truly relax. The baby’s breathing deepens, fists unclench and the grimacing face changes to a look of peace. For many babies, this alone will turn them from a restless, colicky nightmare to a child of contentment. Babies also have to contend with physical trauma to the head.
As the cranium houses the brain, any slight damage or rearrangement to the shape of the head during delivery or by the position of the baby in the womb can have far- reaching consequences. For instance, the frontal bone (forehead) can be pressing heavily into the area below the eyebrows actually squashing the eye sockets. This may cause sticky eyes or blocked tear ducts, which can be remedied with some cranial treatment.
Also common, especially after forceps delivery, is strain through the area above the ears. This may result in recurrent ear infections, hearing difficulties or balance problems.
It is also frequent to find after birth that one side of the head is more compressed than the other: the right side of the brain relates to our emotions and creative ability whilst the left side relates to our rationality and intellectual ability. Either one can be disturbed through an imbalance, resulting in: behavioural problems; learning difficulties; disturbance of hypothalamus function (which can cause problems with appetite, thirst, temperature and sleep regulation); and disturbance of pituitary function (which can cause problems with water retention, growth, metabolic rate and sexual development).
By releasing the tension in the cranium, it improves the general circulation of blood and nourishment to the brain and so helps all aspects of development. This also gives more space for the teeth to come in so easing the whole teeth process.
Although the word “cranial” implies that the affects are restricted to the head, cranial osteopathy will help other areas of the body. For instance, often the torso is twisted and the baby is found to have torsion in the abdominal area, causing colic, constipation and /or vomiting. This can also affect the lungs and many cases of asthma have been helped through cranial treatment.
Even with births through caesarean section, the treatment is good. With planned C- sections the baby frequently goes into a state of shock because of the suddenness of separation. With emergency sections, the baby has often been in distress for a while and so gone into shock. Also, he or she may have been pushing hard against the pelvic bones of mum and have damaged the cranium at the same time.
Using a qualified Cranial Osteopath, provides re-assurance and support for mother & father. Furthermore they seek to treat children, rather than conditions.

Video marketing – 5 tips on how to use video to grow your business –in Leeds & Yorkshire

So you engage a video production company to produce a promotional video for your company & website. Even though video production costs have come down, it is still an investment. So do you embed it on your website and hope for the best?
No, you want to take advantage of using it as much as possible, so here are 5 ways to use your video to promote your business, and attract more views, and visitor’s website.

Firstly, consider if you have an opportunity to create a manual or a ‘how to’ video that demonstrates your product or service. Then optimise the video for the brand or service keywords.

Secondly, open an account with you tube, and upload your video. Make sure that you carefully choose the title, description & tags carefully, ensuring that they contain the main key words/phrases. This will ensure that your video has he opportunity to be found when people search on you tube. The other benefit is that Google may decide to pull your video over onto Page 1, if they consider it relevant to the search term.

Thirdly, consider creating a video link in a newsletter. Take a snapshot of the video, paste it into the newsletter, and create a link to the video. Adding a visible image for video, is likely to increase the click through rate by two to thee times, which is very significant. The same applies to pasting it into an email. The email can be sent to selected parties, with a request to view and comment.

Fourthly, visit www.yell.com, click on the video section (top left) and open an account for your business. This allows you to upload your video. So when people search for a required service and location, your video may be found and watched.
You can also upload your video to Google Places (was; Google Maps-Local Business Results’). Google allows up to 5 videos to be uploaded per account. Anyone finding your company link on Google maps has an opportunity to view your video message.
And if your competitors do not offer videos, you are likely to be ahead of the crowd.

Finally, you can use your video as a profile on social networking & sites liked Linked in.
If you area member of Linked in, which is an excellent business networking site, why not upload your video to your profile. This will allow interested parties to watch and hear you, rather than read about you. This has got to be a better means of communication, and convert more leads.

How to get Your Broken down Electrical Appliances Repaired in Leeds & Wakefield

Today, our homes depend on electrical appliances so much. Dishwashers, Electric ovens and fan ovens, Electric cookers, Electric hobs, Tumble dryers & Fridge freezers are some of the appliances that we rely on.
But what do we do when one of them goes wrong. Well, firstly you can check your paperwork to see what guarantee may still be available. This of course depends on when you purchased it, and how long was the guarantee.
I personally, never pay for these additional 3 & 5 year warranties, as they are not good value for money.
But if they are still within the required period, you may feel better, but also check to see if the potential problem that you have is covered by the garmented. A telephone call should confirm this, if you are unsure. Hopefully, it is within the time period and covered for the problem. All you then need to be concerned about is there speed at which they can respond!
Assuming that you are outside of the guarantee period, you then have a few options:
a) Fix it yourself. Generally this is not a good option, particularly as some appliances are complicated, there is the ‘health & safety’; issue to consider, and also, you could mess it up, and create bigger problem( and cost), when a professional has to be called in!
b) Ask a friend. If you are fortunate to have a friend who is skilled in your particular appliance, and make, this is a possibility. However, there is risk to this, not only to your appliance but also to your friendship.
c) Find a qualified technician. Although you may consider this the costliest option, it may be the best in the end.
You can find a technician by:
1. Asking friends & family (this is good, as you will have some idea as to their reputation
2. Search online using the search engines. You can look on the search engines like Google, for ‘dishwasher repairs Leeds’, and see what companies or individuals details appear. However, you need to check carefully, to ensure this is not a ‘cowboy’ operation.
3. Search Online using yell.com. Yell.com does tend to have a good selection of service engineers, and located geographically.
4. Check out Yellow Page. This may be used if you have no access to the internet, so would provide you with some details. although more and more companies are moving away form yellow pages to the internet.
5. Check out Local papers & free papers. Local papers can till run advertisements of local trade companies, as well as the ‘free ‘papers.
Having located at least three to go on your list, find out the following:
Do you have a call out fee?
If a repair is required, how do you charge? Ie, is it a fixed fee or an hourly rate (if, so whets the hourly rate)
What qualifications and training would the technician have that will visit?
Do they regularly service the particular brand and appliance that you have?
How long will it take for them to visit you, should you tell them to proceed?
Will they provide you with an official receipt?
Using the telephone, it should only take you around 3-4 minutes per call, but it will enable you to make a more informed decision, and therefore get the best deal for you.
I did this, when our dishwasher stopping working, and chose www.westyorkshireappliances.co.uk They did an excellent job, by identifying the problem, keeping me informed of their progress, and most importantly fixed the problem, If you are looking for dishwasher repairs Leeds, or Oven repairs Leeds, or Wakefield, call them on 08456 522 065 or 07921 721 205

Dentists in Wakefield – Choose why you need a dentist carefully

Dental Pain Control
There is nothing worse than to experience dental pain. But finding a solution is dependant on identifying the factors that cause the pain.
It is important to bear in mind the age, whether pregnant, or a nursing mother along with other possible dental conditions. Also allergies, such as asthma, have to be considered.
In the vast majority of cases, dental pain can be controlled in the short term by the use of paracetamol, aspirin & ibuprofen. These can be obtained without the need of a prescription, and are ready available for most shops. Only a small number of dental pain cases require a visit to your general practitioner, or dentist.

There are many factors that influence the choice of a successful regime for dental pain control. The young and the old require extra care together with those who may already be taking medication for other medical or dental conditions and pregnant or nursing mothers. The assessment of the physical and psychological make-up of the patient, together with their past experiences with various forms of pain control, are key to future choices. Allergies, asthma, other contra-indications and short term personal or business activities may also have to be considered.
In the vast majority of emergencies dental pain can be controlled in the short term by one of three simple medicines - paracetamol, aspirin and ibuprofen. All can be purchased without the need for a prescription and are known as Over the Counter (OTC) medicines. Only a minority of dental cases will need access to more powerful Prescription Only Medicines (POM) that can only be supplied by a general medical or dental practitioner.

Crooked Teeth
Crooked teeth are straightened by the use of special devices and techniques [orthodontics]. An orthodontist is a dentist who has been specially trained to use a selection of braces (orthodontic appliances), both fixed and removable, to improve the appearance and health of the teeth and gums.
In general, orthodontic treatment is undertaken for two different groups: children typically aged between 12 and 14 years old, or adults. The specific timing of treatment will, however, vary from patient to patient. A dentist is the first person to speak to. Based on the concerns, a decision will be made, if appropriate, to refer to an orthodontist.

Ulcers of the Mouth
An ulcer is any breakdown of the lining of the mouth, which includes the cheeks, tongue, gums, lips and roof of the mouth. The raw area of an ulcer is often very sensitive and painful.
Some ulcers appear as single ulcers; some ulcers arrive in groups. Some heal quickly leaving no mark behind, and some heal leaving a scar that may be noticeable for some time. Some ulcers appear and then disappear never to return, others may keep coming back again and again.
A single ulcer, which is not healing and which has been present for more than 10 days should be looked at by your dentist. If there is no good reason for the ulcer not healing, it should be investigated further to exclude a possible cancer. Most ulcers however are not malignant and can be explained after the dentist has asked about different features of the ulcer.
No treatments are available which will cure the ulcers. Medications can be bought over the counter in a pharmacy that can help to lessen the discomfort, these include;
• Chlorhexidine mouthwash (e.g. Corsodyl) - an antiseptic mouthwash that helps to keep the mouth clean.
• Difflam - a mouthwash or spray that can temporarily numb the lining of the mouth and reduce the soreness.
• Adcortyl in Orabase - a paste application of a mild steroid. The paste acts as a protective covering over the ulcer and the steroid part helps to reduce the inflammation and discomfort.
A dentist can look at the ulcers about which there are worries. If the dentist feels it is appropriate, they may refer to a hospital specialist, such as a consultant in Oral Medicine, for further investigation and/or treatment.

Tooth Whitening and Bleaching
Tooth discolouration can be a result of either extrinsic (surface stain) or intrinsic (internal stain) factors. As a general rule our teeth become darker as we become older - it is part of the normal ageing process. The deciduous or milk teeth have a much whiter appearance than their permanent successors. Many people would prefer their teeth to be whiter and so look at various whitening and bleaching options.

Regular visits to the dentist or hygienist and proper tooth brushing are all an essential part of maintaining good oral hygiene, a healthy mouth and clean teeth.
Bleaching is the use of chemical agents to produce an oxidation of the discolouring molecules within the tooth. It is not a temporary process. A dentist using chemical agents can also remove superficial stains such as tobacco, tea and coffee.

So it pays to take time and effort to care for your teeth. Leave too late and it will be ‘too late’!
Of the dentists in Wakefield, Wrenthorpe Dental Care, based in the city centre, offer a great service, including cosmetic dentistry, teeth whitening & general dentistry.
They have competitive prices, with some prices below the NHS equivalent.

If you are on Linkedin, then you will ask the question ; "How do people find my profile & get to know what services I offer"?

One of the reasons why many people join Linkedin is to network and hope that that they may obtain business through contacts established through the Lindedin network.

But how does someone locate you?

You have probably filled in your profile dutifully and detailed your experiences and past companies.

Try typing in the search bar ( with the heading 'people',) for your main key phrase.<

So I searched Google for how to optimize my linked profile and found someone who could help me. Nathan Kievman.
nathan has produced a video that simply explains what is required. So I did what he said, and them two hours later searched for 'Online Video marketing', and lo & behold, & I was top, No 1. Couldnt believe it!

So if you want to improve your optimization on Linkedin, check out the video by Nathan, which is on my resources page  here.

Stairlifts help maintain Mobility - Stairlifts Leeds Supplier

Loss of mobility can come as a shock to many, especially losing the ability to go up & down stairs. This is something that effects a good number of elderly (and sometime young persons) at a certain time in their life.

One solution is to move from your property, to a bungalow or apartment with all rooms being on the same floor. However, for many this presents such a potential upheaval, that it is not worthy of consideration.

So the alternative is to consider purchasing or renting a stairlift.

Stair lifts offer a simple and safe way of travelling from one floor to another. The investment required is very reasonable, & cheaper than the costs of selling/purchasing another property. Another alternative to rent a stair lift.

There is however, a wide choice of different types, of which the main two would be either ‘straight stair lift’ or ‘curved stairlift’. The straight stairlift is used for stairs that are in effect; straight and therefore doing not require travelling around a ‘bend’. The curved stairlift is designed to travel around bends enabling various types of stairs to be traversed. You can check out the type of stairlift you have here.

Choosing the right type of stairlift can be difficult with some many brands & types available.

To make sure that you end up with the best stairlift for your needs follow these basic guidelines:

Deal with a 'stairlift' specialist, rather than mobility shops, who may be limited in stairlift experience.

Deal with a company that is 'indepenant', so they can offer you the most suitable make and model for your needs. if they only provide one brand, they may 'force' a amodel to suit, rather than say that they dont have something for your particular situation/location.

Make sure that their 'home visit' is free of charge.

Where possible use a local provider, to ensure good response times, if required.

Leodis Stairlifts have 11 locations across Yorkshire including Leeds, Sheffield & Doncaster, providing and installing straight stairlifts & curved stairlifts.

Back Pain & Neck Pain Treatment - Huddersfield Osteopathy

Some many people today suffer with back pain, and some struggle to get through their day.

For some the lower back is an area of vulnerability. This is because it supports most of the body’s weight, resulting in potential vulnerability and therefore damage. Problems are likely o increase with age, which is not surprising. And with the increasing problems with diet and increasing obesity, further pressure is added to the lower back, adding to possible increased suffering.

Figures suggest that for people aged 16 or over, may experience some form of back pain at some time during their life. This may range from one to two days or up to periods of several months at a time.

Significant working hours are lost due to back pain, which leaves employers counting the cost. Some of this could be reduced through better working practices, and education of workers.

It appears that people aged between 35-55 yrs suffer more as a result of back pain. It has also been observed that middle aged woman suffer more with back pain, as a result of the osteoporosis, around this time.

Reducing the potential of back pain can be done by ensuring a good diet, educating yourself to how to care for your back, and an annual visit to an osteopath, who can advise you, treat if necessary, and keep the wholeness of life flowing through you.

I suffered for several months with a bad back, and regular treatment by my osteopath, initially relieved the pain, and then eliminated it. Heaven!.

Huddersfield Osteopathy is an excellent practise with trained caring staff that treats back pain, cranial osteopathy and general symptoms associated with the body’s dysfunction.

Solicitors Wakefield – Free Report – How to choose a good solicitor

If you are looking for solicitors in Wakefield
A new website www.SolicitorsWakefield4u.co.uk offers a FREE report for anyone interested in selecting the best solicitor for their needs.

Selecting a solicitor can be a difficult choice especially if you require specialist advice. Many people do not realise that there are ‘accredited’ solicitors belonging to accreditation panels. These solicitors are trained specific areas. Schemes include|:

Children’s Panel Accreditations Scheme
Family Mediation Accreditation Scheme
Civil and Commercial Mediation Accreditation Scheme

Remember that usually when a solicitor is required, is likely that we are dealing with a situation that may be quite stressful, and as a result our judgment is not as good as it should be. Consequently, it is useful to read something that can help our judgment in selecting the best solicitor for our needs.
And in dealing with a stressful situation, it is important that the person you select is supportive, pleasant, personable, as well as being good at the legal stuff. So choose carefully. A good rule is if you don’t like the person within the first 5 minutes, you are not likely to like them at all!
The report tells you that you don’t have to accept any solicitor offered (if you are paying), & you can also change solicitors. However, changing solicitors in the middle of a case has to be viewed with some concern.
So why not visit www.solicitorswakefield4u.co.uk and order your FREE report. It could save you a lot of hassle and money!

Solicitors in Manchester-How to Choose the Right Solicitor?

When choosing a solicitor, you will have to consider what type of work you will want them to do. There are general solicitors but also specialist solicitors. So it depends on your needs.

This report is meant as a general guide to assist you in helping you choose the best solicitor for your circumstances. Read it carefully, and where necessary, review other recommended information, before searching for a solicitor. It helps to have as much preparation done as possible, prior to your initial choice and selection.

Having done this, consider if need to identify a specialist legal advisor & if so, it is preferable to have someone who belongs to one of the range of Law Society and SRA accreditation schemes.

1. Check out the various Accreditation Schemes.
Most solicitors belong to accreditation schemes, relative to the ‘speciality’ that they practice in.
For example there are:

Children’s Panel Accreditations Scheme
The Children Panel Accreditation Scheme aims to connect you with practitioners experienced in representing children and other parties under the Children Act 1989.
Family Law Accreditation Scheme
Family law can deal with difficult issues. Family Law Accreditation Scheme members can advise on separation, divorce etc
Family Mediation Accreditation Scheme
Family Mediation Accreditation Scheme members are solicitors or legal executives (fellow of the Institute of Legal Executive), can help couples who are dealing with divorce or separation.
Civil and Commercial Mediation Accreditation Scheme
Civil and Commercial Mediation Accreditation Scheme members, who must be solicitors or legal executives (ie Fellows of the Institute of Legal Executives, or FILEXs), offer ways to resolve disputes without using the courts.

Personal Injury Accreditation Scheme
The Personal Accreditation Scheme will help put you in touch with legal practitioners who offer advice on and assistance with claims resulting form personal injury.
There are other accreditation schemes covering other areas.

2. Choose your ‘speciality’

Having concerned your situation, and why you need a solicitor, you should have some idea of the speciality that is required for your case. Once this is done you can look for solicitors having the speciality.

3. Looking for Potential Solicitors
Once having decided where you need a specialist solicitor, you can start looking.Firstly, it is worth asking friends and colleagues if they either know of, or have ever used the type of solicitor that you are looking for. A personal referral is often the best way.
Or you can use the internet to search by using the search engines. Type in the type of solicitor that you are looking for, and your locality. You can also check out online directories like yell.com or local internet directories. You need to create a list of at least four possibilities, so that you can visit & then eliminate.
4. What to Look For
Having confirmed that each solicitors practice has the specialist that you require, you can telephone them and set up a preliminary appointment. When doing so ask if they offer an initial free consultation. Many solicitors do this, and you may want to stay with those. During your initial telephone call, and contact with the company, pay attention to how you are treated, the courtesy extended, and the attitude expressed toward you. As you are a prospective client, you would be expected to be treated as such, from the earliest contact. If you are not, this may be an indication of the type of treatment later on. However, you can confirm his at your first meeting.

5. Your Initial meeting.
Pay attention to how you are treated, by all staff. Having explained your situation, ask them how they may be able to help.
If you require a specialist solicitor, ask to be introduced to them, and see if you can spend at least 10 minutes discussing your case. If you decide to appoint this practice to act on your behalf, you need to be sure that you like the person. Especially, as you may be looking for their support during stressful times. Find out if this solicitor belongs to an accreditations scheme associated with his ‘specialty’
Also ask them to confirm that you will be dealing with the same solicitor throughout your case. You don’t want to be seeing different people all the time.
Ask them what experience they have had dealing with similar cases to yours, and what have been their successes.
Ask them for a list of their fees, and how these are meant to be paid.
Finally, ask them to put in writing to you, the discussions, and how the plant o help you, along with budgeted costs and predicted time scale.

6. Make a Choice
Having visited at least three solicitors, you can now consider:
a) Did you like the atmosphere and ethos of the practice?
b) did you like the solicitor that make act for you (if you so decide)
c) was the solicitor a ‘listener’, and considered your situation, listening carefully, rather than talking all the time
d) Consider their track record regarding similar cases to yours.
e) Consider their fee list, and likely costs associated with your case. Bear in mind that usually, things take longer than estimated, and therefore could be more costly.
f) Finally, may a decision based on the above, and get moving.

7. Remember who is in Charge
Bear in mind that it is likely to be your money that will pay the solicitor (unless you are fortunate to obtain legal aid), so that means that you need to be in control. Do not be afraid to ask questions, and when in meetings, be organized, focused and avoid meaningless talk. Most solicitors charge by time, so don’t discuss last years holiday with them!
Remember that the solicitor is effectively, your advisor, but it is you that makes the decisions regarding your case. Their job is to provide you with options, alternatives according to the law, bearing in mind your situation.

7 things that you need to know about Social Media - Consultant Wakefield Advice

Everywhere you go, you hear the subject of Social media. Terms like blogging, twitter, Face book etc abound.

If you have not engaged in any social media activities (being one of the minority), you may feel somewhat left out or lost.
If you are in business, you may wonder whether you are missing out on this new activity, and could it bring you increased leads & sales.

In fact you may feel like I did before I entered the ‘social media’ arena, that it seems impossible to even grasp the ‘basics’, let alone decide what networks there are, and more importantly, which are best for my business.

Below are 7 basic things that may help you

1. Aspects of Social Networking

There are Free- Most, like twitter, face book & LinkedIn are free. It doesn’t cost anything to sign up!

They are for everybody – It is not just for teens and university undergraduates. A recent study on shows that 25% of social media users were in the 35-44 yr group.
http://royal.pingdom.com/2010/02/16/study-ages-of-social-network-users/

They are popular – face book has registered over 400 million

They are relevant – Social networking sites are being used for various activities, including business promotion, so that they cannot be ignored as a potential marketing tool.

2. How can Social networking help My Company?
It obviously depends on the type of business you are in. However they can be used to:

Generate qualified leads
Increase subscribers to newsletter
Generate exposure to your product/services
Improved ranking in Search Engines
Build new business partnerships
Use what your customers are saying to improve your product/services

3. Do I need to be qualified or an expert.
As with most things, we only learn though our actions. I started by opening accounts in the major networks, and accepted I might make a fool of myself. My grandchildren were rather surprised when I joined face book and asked them to be my ‘friends’.
It helps to learn the basics, but regarding use for business it may be better to talk to a consultant or company that has experience in how to apply social networking to grow your business.

4. Consider the different Channels that may be relevant to your product/services.

When a potential customer is researching about your product/service, can they find you on?

Discussion Sites ( Blogs etc)
Photo sharing site ( Flickr etc)
Video Sharing Sites (YouTube etc)
Article Sharing Sites (Digg etc)
Social/Business networking sites(Face book, etc)

5. Personal & Business Accounts

It is possible with some networking sites, including Face book, to have a personal & Business account.
It is best to choose both, but use your business account for business purposes only. The only exception tot his would be if your name is your brand!

6. How relevant is Social Networking to my Business?
Again, it depends on your business. But let us back track. Say you want to promote your company & its goods/services though the internet. How do people find you? It’s not by accident.
Most people use the search engines initially for research. They what information about a product or service. Only around 10% of people search and buy on the same day according to Google.
So you need your product/service to appear when prospective purchasers are researching. Social media could help with this.

7. It may be free but it is not cheap!

As mentioned above, most social media networks are free to join. But don’t be fooled. The one thing that is required, and can be significant, is TIME. Part of social media networking is taking time to communicate, replying to others, and commenting on other networks regarding your expertise. So choosing the correct networking and budgeting your time is vital. You may prefer to hire someone who will manage your blog writing, twittering etc but this depends on your budget.

Conclusion

If you plan to use social media to grow your business, bear in mind it can take up to 12 months to see some results. It is not a quick fix! If you want more traffic to your website (and therefore more leads/sales), Search Engine Optimization or Pay Per Click marketing will provide a more likely faster solution. Also, I believe that most social media networking should point people to a destination (your website usually). So before you invest time (& money), it is wise to consider:

a) Does my website genuinely represent my business?
b) Is it attractive, informative and easy to navigate, with a call to action?
c) Is it already found on the search engine (like Google), for my products/services. (If not, you may want to invest in this first.
d) Do I know how many people visit my website, and what their behaviour is?

And if you cannot answer YES to all of these questions, I suggest that before you enter social media, you talk to an internet marketing consultant, and define your internet strategy for your business.

Google Duplicate Content Penalty. True or False?

Summary- Many webmasters and web developers live in fear of the Goggle Duplicate Content Penalty so what’s the truth, and can we publish duplicate content?

What Is Google Duplicate Content Penalty?
What is this? It is the possibility of Google identifying a second or a number of pages that are basically the same, and as a consequence, Google smacks you with a ‘penalty’, which could be banning you/your client from Google for a period of time or for ever! Pretty serious stuff!

But the truth is there is no such thing as a Google Duplicate Content penalty. If you have been thinking there is one, it is likely that you will have read various articles and blogs discussions that like to speculate.
But the only people who can comment are ‘Google’. And they say that there is none! And in Google’s own words “there is no such thing as a duplicate content penalty”
This comes directly from Google’s Webmaster Central Blog.

And people like Matt Cutts, Google’s senior software engineer has also stated this.

We have to remember that Google’s role is to provide a customer with the best and most relevant results for a search, based on the search terms (keywords), that the customer has used in the Google search box.

Google’s Purpose-Delivering Relevant Information

Google’s customers are looking for information, whether researching for a product/service, solve a problem, to purchase a product at the best price, locate a particular company, or get directions to a specific location.
In using Google, everyone starts off by typing a ‘keywords/phrase’ into the search box. Some will use a word like ‘ stairlifts’, whilst others, being more specific, will either add a location, like ‘stairlifts Wakefield’, or a long tail keyword phrase like ‘ find stairlift suppliers in Wakefield’.

If Google finds several pages offering exactly the same content, it will select that which offers the best information required. It may sometimes, list two or three pages that show exactly the same content.

Example of Google Selecting ‘Duplicate Content’

I recently published an article for a client “Maintaining Your Mobility-Choosing the Right Stair lift” across a number of article directories.
When I searched, today, in Google for “Maintaining Your Mobility-Choosing the Right Stair lift” of the five top results, four of them were my article!

So doesn’t this prove that Google does not operate a ‘Duplicate Content Penalty?’

You can check out the full article Google :here
